Verizon Workers on Strike!

Two unions, CWA and IBEW, representing 45,000 Verizon Communications workers announced an immediate strike on Sunday morning after stalled negotiations. New York City Local CWA 1101 has been on strike since Sunday on W.36th street location. We support our 1101 brothers and sisters on their fight to save the Middle Class.

Women's Committee and DA meetings are cancelled for August

Union Educational Fund Offers Online Prep Course

The Union’s Educational Fund will offer an online examination prep course for Caseworker (Exam No. 2307) and Child Protective Specialist (Exam No.2308) title computerized (walk-in) exams.  The course can be accessed at http://civil-tt.sseu371.org through August 31, 2011.

UPDATE: Bell and Adams Case Has Been Adjourned to September 14

The next big court date for Chereece Bell and Damon Adams has been adjourned to September 14 in the tragic Marchella Pierce case. In the past, members have packed the courtrooms in support of these former members. Both Bell and Adams expressed gratitude for continued support they received from their former corworkers and union members. 

Mattingly Resigns

In response to the resignation of Administration for Children’s Services Commissioner John Mattingly, SSEU Local 371 President Anthony Wells released the following statement:

AFSCME Panel Rules on Union Election

The Judicial Council of AFSCME, SSEU Local 371’s parent union, has ruled on the charges filed in relation to the General Officers election concluded in April, denying all allegations of wrongdoing and upholding the results.
