Send Cuomo a Valentine!

Governor Cuomo's pension reform is a bad plan for workers and a bad plan for taxpayers. Let him know with a little Valentine's Day message.

Black Heritage Celebration

Join the Union this Friday, Feb. 3 for the Black Heritage Celebration, at DC 37 Headquarters, Barclay St. at 5:30 p.m. The keynote speaker will be activist and scholar Angela Davis, and will highlight the life and leadership of our departed president, Charles Ensley. 

Social Work Celebration

The Union will be celebrating social work month on Friday, March 16, starting at 5:30 p.m. at DC 37 Headquarters at 125 Barclay St. in Manhattan. The event honors members who recently earned their Masters in Social Work.

Delegate Training Follow Up

SSEU Local 371 will hold a day-long refresher training for Delegates and Alternates on Saturday, March 3 to follow up on the October Delegate training. It will concentrate on grievance procedure and legal issues. Any elected Delegate or Alternate interested in joining should fax the reply slip below to Ingrid Beaumont at 212-477-4863 by Feb. 24.

New York Daily News columnist Juan Gonzalez has hit another home run with his coverage of the Governor's Medicaid Redesign Team's proposal to eliminate CASA.

Victory: Manhattan BP Office Layoffs Averted!

SSEU Local 371 is happy to report that the planned lay offs of four of our members in community titles at the Manhattan Borough President’s Office have been averted. The City Council has restored funding for those positions.

“This is an inspiring victory,” said Union President Anthony Wells. “These four members won’t have to worry about putting food on their tables.”
