The Office of Policy, Procedures and Training/Office of Workforce Development is pleased to announce the winter/spring course offerings in the Social Work Continuing Education Unit (CEU) Academy! This program is offered in partnership with SUNY Stony Brook School of Social Welfare to DSS-HRA-DHS staff who are licensed social workersThe goal of the program is to provide staff who are licensed social workers the opportunity to satisfy the New York State Education Law requirement to complete 36 hours of continuing education units during each three year licensing registration period. Registration for the following courses is now open for licensed social workers:

 

Classes are available to licensed social workers only. Each course will provide six CEUs. Social workers will be able to obtain 12 CEUs at DSS-HRA-DHS per year. All classes will be held at 4 World Trade Center/150 Greenwich Street, 43rd Floor, Training Room (#43-R04), New York, NY 10007. To register, please complete the Workforce Development Training Request Form (by clicking the link). Obtain the appropriate signatures and submit the completed form to the Office of Workforce Development via e-mail (attach scanned form) or fax (718-636-7851). Registrations will be prioritized based on social work license expiration date. Additional courses will be available in fall 2018. 

 

Update on Social Work Licensing Examination Preparation Workshops

Plans are near completion for workshops being developed for DSS-HRA-DHS staff seeking to take the Association of Social Work Board (ASWB) Examination for Licensure. Separate workshops will be held for social workers and recent social work program graduates (who obtained their master’s degree within the last 18 months) and social work staff who have been out of school for more than 18 months. A separate communication will be sent with details in the coming weeks.
